Greetings!
We guessed you'd come here first. Cabernet is king, and we know it. It's our lifeblood around these parts, and for good reason. Thick-skinned, high pigments and strong tannins… these are the building blocks for the world’s most popular wine. Remarkable depth and dimension, Cabernet ranges from muscular, palatial, angular, and regal to a more polished, fruit-driven, flashy style. However, the core flavors of Cabernet almost always remain. Napa's best can age for two or three decades.
Our current selection below ranges from $19 to $95, and we love 'em all.

2008 Manifesto Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon The world awaits some sort of movement. We simply waited for a great-tasting unincumbered Cabernet, and it didn't matter where it came from. This is just across the Napa County line, made by winemaking fiend Jamie Whetstone. Nothing complicated, but entirely delicious, a lovely red wine, tons of fruit to offer and smooth as silk. Enjoy the Manifesto at a coffee party near you

2007 Decoy (Duckhorn) Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
This is not your usual Decoy. In fact, its a "decoy" of the Decoy you know. Sort of. Let me explain. Now Decoy from Duckhorn has a whole lineup of great wines, all second labels of their flagships, Cabs, Merlots, and Zinfandels (thru Paraduxx). This is now going to replace our 30 dollar Decoy red for a 100% Cabernet version that is 5 dollars less. Its a steal we could not pass up. A great pretty nose and soft, fleshy body. I think they slipped in some of their super-good stuff in this one. Yup Yup.

2007 Vicarious (Modus Operandi) Napa Valley Red
Skillful hands and passionate character. That describes one of Napa's most grounded family-man winemakers I know. Jason Moore's restaurant background gives him a keen notion of "what the customer wants" and what we want is honest, big juicy reds (blended thank you, says Burt). His second label, Vicarious's a beautiful wine, ripe, full-bodied and opulent. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Petite Sirah, makes its contribution. Consistent waves of blackberries and black currants, violets, chocolate, leather and spices, wrapped into sturdy but refined tannins. Only 7 barrels made! $45

2007 Larkmead Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
We fell hard for the brand new 2007 Larkmead Cabernet. There's something beautifully dark, chewy, oh so juicy from this property's Cabernet every time we taste. Always producing something akin to liquid cassis and steel. The 2007 steps it up as you'd expect, with a terrific floral nose, and a grand balance on the palate. Without question, one of Napa's oldest estate-treasures and one of the better 50 dollar cabs on the market.

2007 Palazzo Napa Valley Red Wine
Scott's inspiration for producing his style of wines began almost 30 years ago, with a love affair for Bordeaux. Particularly wines from the rolling hillsides of the Right Bank countryside of St. Emilion & Pomerol. His stylish Bordeaux blend is an elegant, restrained effort displaying a dark ruby/purple-tinged color in addition to notes of cedarwood, bay leaf, black cherries, black currants, spice box, and background oak. Medium-bodied with outstanding purity, very good texture, and fine length, it should drink well for 7-8 years. $58

2006 Crocker & Starr Napa Valley Stone Place Cabernet Sauvignon
Pressed to answer, I'd say this may be one of the most complete Cabernets under 100 this year. Stellar power, utmost elegance, refinement intermingles with muscle. Soulfully deep Cabernet, showing why this grape is king of the wine world. A finish envied by many a producer. A statued, chiseled beauty. Enjoy it!

2007 Pott St. Ralph the Liar Cabernet Sauvignon
Before there's any questions about legalities (after all, we're in California), Pott Wines is a tiny personal wine label created by friend and master winemaker Aaron Pott (Quintessa, Newton, Blackbird, Seven Stones). Fans of Monty Python know St. Ralph. Fans of ridiculously deep, dark, and concentrated Howell Mountain Cabernet should know this hedonistic wine today. We wish more wines at this price tasted as good as this one does. Phenomenal job, Aaron. Less than 200 cases made.
